What should we do with our 'dead stock'?
Some pieces of clothing are truly fabulous, but if it just collects dust in our store, we should replace it with something new. Sure, but that's quite hard if an item has been viewed and tried a lot of times and people fall in love with it, but it just doesn't fit right. We often think "all it needs is that one particular customer..." It's hard to part with a loved one!
Well, we found something for that: The Amsterdam Stray Cats Association, or Stichting Amsterdamse Zwerfkatten (SAZ). A good destination for our dead stock and donations!
If people donate stuff to us, we first check if it's the style of our shop. If it does, we'll replace an item of our own. The item we just replaced is put in a bag to donate to the SAZ. All other donations that are not our style, we also put in that bag. Whenever we've collected enough clothing, we bring it to the SAZ.
They sell the pieces on fairs and with the profit they make, they buy catfood, medicin etc. for their feline visitors. So it's a win-win-win really; You gain wardrobe space, good items are being reused, our stock is refreshed and the SAZ get worthy donations. Yay for the cats getting their food!
